Badock’s Wood, Brentry and Southmead

This circular walk is full of interest.

We start by walking through Badock’s Wood, cross the River Trym and follow paths to open ground near the former Brentry Hospital.

We continue through woods and open ground, stopping for a coffee break before passing the Pen Park Hole, a site of special scientific interest. We then walk through Filton Golf course, Pen Park playing fields and Fonthill Park.

A stretch of road walking follows before we join the footpath along the River Trym back to Badock’s Wood to return to the start.

Mainly flat, with two short uphill sections.
