A most pleasant and varied ramble about the charming village suburb that is Westbury-on-Trym.
We will begin by looking at some of the village’s historic sites and features, including the church, and some of its many nooks and crannies and delightful lanes. These then lead us further afield, to Badock’s Wood, a much cared-for woodland in which an ancient barrow is located. It’s then back to Westbury-on-Trym via quiet back lanes before riverside paths lead us into the splendid, open, green spaces of Henbury golf course and on to the woods on the southernmost edges of Blaise estate. We will complete our circuit via more leafy lanes, bordering the University of Bristol sports complex on one side and Canford cemetery on the other.
There are a couple of short, sharp ascents and there is the possibility of a muddy section within Blaise. Buses to the start: 1.
