Nordic walking is a sociable and fun outdoor activity based on ordinary walking. It uses two lightweight poles to turn your walk into a whole body activity.
Nordic walking can be done by anyone. With the right technique you can strengthen your upper and lower body muscles, improve your posture and balance, increase your sense of wellbeing, and boost your fitness. You can also burn 20-46% more calories than ordinary walking.
Experience a taster of Nordic walking led by our qualified instructors who will lend you the poles you need. It’s friendly and fun and don’t worry about your fitness level. You can take it at your own pace.
The long route (about 7 miles) will take four to five hours and includes unpaved paths and possibly mud in wet weather. Where the walks cross main roads there can be access to shops – and buses if someone needs to leave the walk part way through.
There will be a refreshment stop and access to toilets on the way. Information about local history and the local wildlife can be found via the booklets and apps. ‘It’s going to be a journey of discovery’.
