What were your walking habits/levels pre-lockdowns?

I walked around town to shop and go to events, but more often cycled around.

Have you increased the amount/distance you walk since lockdowns started?

Yes, most days I go out for an hour or so.

What role has walking played in your lockdown?

It’s been important for me to get out of the house and to see other people being out and about. Also to get some perspective and “fresh” air.

What’s your favourite route to walk? And why?

Enjoying local walks going to Purdown has been really good. Seeing and being alongside trees and wildlife is good.

Podcast, music or peace and quiet when walking?

Peace and quiet, or rather listen to what’s around you. Sadly, there’s now more traffic noise, but birdsong and the crunch under your feet are always good to hear. It’s always seemed an odd thing to me, to go out into the world to experience all it has to offer but then immerse yourself in a very different soundscape by plugging an audio device into your ears.

Will you maintain walking post-lockdown?

Given my need not to go to work, I’m sure I’ll keep walking but in a greater variety of landscapes, I hope.
