Home Case Studies Walking Q&A: Jo Stokes – Community Services Manager, Age UK Bristol

What were your walking habits/levels pre-lockdowns?

I used to enjoy just walking day to day, but rarely had the chance to walk much due to a busy family life.

Have you increased the amount/distance you walk since lockdowns started?

Since lockdown began we walk more. Just before the pandemic hit, we got a rescue dog who turned out to be a life saver – we had to go out each day to walk her. We’ve been to many new places in the city or just outside, finding new green areas to walk and new people (dog walkers) to chat to each time. So, we are physically fitter and also meet more people.

What role has walking played in your lockdown?

see above.

What’s your favourite route to walk? And why?

It’s a short walk, but I love Baddocks Woods. It’s a small oasis in town with plenty of wildlife.

Podcast, music or peace and quiet when walking?

 Just me and the dog!

Will you maintain walking post-lockdown?

Absolutely.
