Walking sports are designed to help maintain an active lifestyle regardless of age, health and ability. Increasing in popularity, it’s perfect for people looking for a less physically but just as mentally demanding version of various sports. Whether you’re new to hockey, have just not played for a while or had to stop due to injuries etc, walking hockey allows you to pick up a stick in a fun and relaxed environment with like-minded men and women (and occasionally children) but who still enjoy showing their skills and being involved in the team and social aspect of the sport. There are many health benefits associated with most forms of physical activity: keeping fit and active, weight loss, preventing and managing many chronic illnesses, and also social benefits including time to socialise, build confidence and generally looking after your mental health. Sticks are available to borrow.
Every Monday – start time 7:15 for 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. during the hockey season – Sept through March annually
