Since 2001, the Mental Health Foundation has been leading Mental Health Awareness Week – bringing the UK together to focus on getting good mental health.
Community
This year, the week takes place from 12 to 18 May and the theme ‘community’ resonates strongly with us at Bristol Walk Fest, where we champion the power of walking to support both physical and mental wellbeing.
Carrying on from our successful launch event on 1st May where four wonderful guest speakers talked about the benefits walking has had on their mental health, we’re proud to showcase a selection of inclusive and inspiring events as part of this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week. These walks are designed not only to promote movement and mindfulness, but also to foster a sense of connection within our local communities.
Upcoming Highlights
15th May, 6:30pm
After a fantastic talk at our launch event, Taylor Moore is back as ambassador for the 5k Your Way series. This uplifting initiative will continue to encourage participants to walk 5k while having open, stigma-free conversations about mental health. It’s a chance to connect, reflect, and move forward together.
14th May, 11am
Hosted by Soul Trail Wellbeing and ActiveBeing, this event invites walkers to immerse themselves in nature while exploring mental wellbeing. Both organisations are experts in creating safe and nurturing spaces where participants can find support, community, and calm through the natural world.
Roots to Wellbeing’s Walk in the Park – Hillfields
14th May, 10:30am
Join Your Park Bristol & Bath for a gentle, guided walk through Hillfields Community Garden. This tranquil nature-connection experience is a perfect way to slow down, breathe deeply, and connect with others during Mental Health Awareness Week.
18th May, 11:30am
This walk by Wobbly Socials is for anyone who feels a bit ‘wobbly’ about socialising. With the aim to reduce isolation and build great communities for anyone who needs them, Wobbly Socials welcome all adults to join them for a lovely walk and a stop for coffee at the end.
