In this blog post, we chatted to Duncan McKellar; local history enthusiast, artist and Bristol Walk Fest walk provider.
How are you involved in Bristol Walk Fest this year?
This is the fifth Bristol Walk Fest that I have taken part in as a walk provider. This year I’ll be leading the St. Nicholas Market & Air Raid Shelter Walking Tour and the Bristol Blitz Experience & Air Raid Shelter Tour. There are 15 dates available for each walk, throughout the month.
You can see all the 2025 dates and get more info here.
Where is your favourite place to walk?
My favourite walk is the subterranean tour of the St. Nicholas Market Air Raid Shelter. It is like travelling back in time every day!
How do you feel when you’re out for a walk?
I find walking is a fantastic way of staying healthy whilst organizing your thoughts.
Do you have any recommendations for those out walking in Bristol?
I highly recommend visiting the wonderful food stalls of St.Nicholas Market and of course, exploring the air raid shelter hidden beneath!
And remember to occasionally look up as you walk through beautiful Bristol. There is so much wonderful architecture above our heads!
